Nearly $2,000 in losses occurred during smash-and-grab burglaries at two Aurora tanning salons this week, police said.

According to Aurora Police Department spokesman Dan Ferrelli, police cannot confirm whether the two incidents are related, but the suspect in each incident could be the same person based on his clothing and physical description.

The first burglary occurred around 10:27 p.m. on Sunday at an LA Tan in the 2100 block of West Galena Boulevard, Ferrelli said.

The second incident occurred at another LA Tan, this time around 10:14 p.m. Monday, in the 400 block of Eola Road.

Ferrelli said the burglar in both cases smashed a window to gain access to cash registers at the front of the store.

In the first burglary, a loss of $680 was reported in stolen cash and damges. In the second incident, loss was set $1,180.

The burglar in the Galena Boulevard incident was described as a man wearing a light-colored hooded sweatshirt that covered his face. He was also wearing dark pants and gloves. Ferrelli said he was about 5-foot-6, 150 pounds.

According to Ferrelli, the suspect in the Eola Road burglary had a similar physical description and was wearing similar clothes.

Police are continuing to investigate whether the incidents are related.
