A Homer Glen man accused of causing a crash that left a Tinley Park woman severely disabled could go on trial in January.
David McFadden is accused of aggravated reckless driving, according to the Cook County state’s attorney office.
Police said McFadden ran a red light and crashed into the car of the 33-year-old woman about 2:30 a.m. Jan. 18 at 159th Street and Harlem Avenue. The force of the impact was enough to push the woman’s car from the intersection into the parking lot of the nearby Tinley Park Portillo’s restaurant, and she was in a coma for more than 70 days.
The Cook County state’s attorney’s office on Wednesday turned over the police accident reconstruction reports and was expected to hand over medical records from Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn to McFadden’s attorney.
McFadden, of Homer Glen, originally was charged with drunken driving, but the charge was changed in March to aggravated reckless driving, according to the Cook County state’s attorney’s office. McFadden admitted to drinking at a bar and failed sobriety tests at the crash scene, according to court records. He is out on bond and due back in court Dec. 9.
