A 16-year-old girl is facing charges following a string of car burglaries that took place throughout Yorkville Saturday night and into Sunday morning.
Approximately nine cars had been entered overnight, Yorkville Police Department Deputy Chief Larry Hilt said. According to police call logs, most of the burglarized vehicles were parked in the 2300 block of Titus Drive and the 1400 block of Orchid Street.
Residents on Titus Drive began reporting the burglaries around 6 a.m. Sunday. Calls from residents continued to come in to 911 throughout the day, according to logs.
Hilt said all of the cars that were entered were unlocked.
Because many of the cases are still pending, Hilt could only provide information about one of the incidents. He said that credit cards, debit cards, three checkbooks and identification cards were reported stolen from one of the vehicles parked in the 2300 block of Titus Drive.
In that incident, the teen was charged with burglary to a motor vehicle and unlawful use of a credit card.
Additional charges could be forthcoming as the other investigations wrap up, Hilt said.
