Ongoing reconstruction of the interchange between the Stevenson Expressway and Lake Shore Drive accelerates Monday, coupled with repaving of a section of northbound Lake Shore Drive. Drivers should expect delays.
Closings and lane reductions
Through Nov. 3, weather permitting.
- Eastbound I-55: Three lanes approaching the interchange will be reduced to two 11-foot-wide lanes starting just east of the Dan Ryan Expressway.
- 25th Street from Martin Luther King Drive to Donnelly Drive/McCormick Place Busway: Existing lanes will be reduced and shifted south. Street parking will be eliminated.
- Eastbound I-55 to southbound Lake Shore Drive ramp: Existing single lane will be reduced and traffic shifted to the right side of the ramp.
- State Street ramp to eastbound I-55
- Eastbound I-55 exit ramps to Martin Luther King Drive

Lake Shore Drive repaving
Begins Monday, expected to take about four weeks to complete.
Phase 1: Two lanes will be closed between North Avenue and Grand Avenue.
