Suspicious of the quantity of drugs being prescribed, the three pharmacists looked into the request and called the hospital for confirmation, police said. They discovered Bergeron had stolen the name and drug identification numbe. of a woman at the hospital whom she believed was a doctor, but was a physician’s assistant, Ferrelli said.
The assistant had treated Bergeron, which is when the ID theft was believed to have taken place.
Bergeron was charged with three counts of identity theft and attempted unlawful acquisition of a controlled substance. She was taken into custody around 7:15 a.m. Wednesday at her home.
