A Geneva man died early Monday after a Sunday evening crash in Batavia that also left his female passenger seriously injured, Batavia police said.
Police announced Tuesday that Todd Baker, 66, died about 1:40 a.m. Monday, about seven hours after he crashed his 1997 Sunbeam Alpine near Fabyan Parkway and Batavia Avenue.
According to police, Baker was traveling east on Fabyan about 7:20 p.m. Sunday when he went to turn left onto northbound Batavia.
At that same time, a 2004 Jeep Liberty, driven by an 18-year-old Geneva man, was traveling west on Fabyan approaching Batavia Avenue. Both he and Baker had green lights when they collided in the intersection, police said.
Baker and his female passenger were both seriously injured in the crash. The Jeep’s driver refused medical treatment.
After being extricated from the vehicle, Baker was transported to Delnor Hospital and then airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove where he died.
Baker’s passenger, who was ejected from the Sunbeam, was flown to Good Samaritan Hospital. She remains hospitalized, and her condition is unknown, police said.
No citations were issued.
