An East Chicago man was shot to death Monday morning in an alley, according to a Lake County coroner’s office release.

According to the release, Reimundo Camarillo Jr., 31, was pronounced dead at 8:55 a.m. of a gunshot wound.

East Chicago police Chief Mark Becker said the department’s gunfire locator system recorded shots fired at 8 a.m. Becker said police are still investigating the case.

The coroner’s office was called at 8:20 a.m. to the scene of the shooting in a rear alley in the 4200 block of Euclid Avenue. Camarillo lived in the 4300 block of Euclid. The death has been ruled a homicide.
