Oak Brook fire officials said they are continuing to investigate the cause of an accidental house fire Oct. 3, that resulted in $150,000 in damages.
Firefighters discovered a fire in the attic of a two-story home on the 200 block of Wood Glen Lane about 7:21 p.m. Oct. 3, according to a release prepared by Fire Chief Barry Liss.
The home was filled with a moderate amount of smoke, and the blaze was confined to the east side of the attic, Liss said. Four residents of the home had evacuated before firefighters arrived, according to the chief.
The fire was extinguished by 8:08 p.m., and no one was injured, Liss said. Firefighters from Oakbrook Terrace, York Center, Elmhurst, Westchester and Hillside assisted at the scene, he said.
Damage to the structure was estimated at $130,000 and at $20,000 for contents, according to the release. The home was determined uninhabitable until appropriate repairs and restoration are made, Liss said.
