Judy Martini announced that she is running for the Republican seat in the March Primary for Lake County Board member in District 5, according to a news release. The seat was held by Bonnie Thomson Carter, a 20-year veteran who recently announced she will not be seeking reelection.
Martini said in a statement “Many of the people in this area, I have had the pleasure of working with for years, but for those who don’t know me, I am no newcomer to good government.” Martini served as a member on the County Board from 1994-2008 in District 1, before taking a break from politics.
According to the news release, Martini is currently a Republican precinct committeeman in Grant Township, a member of the Fox Lake Planning Commission, a commissioner on the Lake County Housing Authority, and a former director of the Fox Waterway Agency. She has served on more than 23 various committees and was a former vice-chair of the County Board.
