player ready...Cady Marsh Ditch is due to receive some regularly scheduled maintenance, and residents are invited to see what’s coming.
The Lake County Drainage Board is awaiting contractor bids for the work, which ideally will be completed by the end of the year, Lake County Surveyor Bill Emerson Jr. said Tuesday. The work will take place in the entire area between Cline Avenue on the Griffith side and Colfax Street in Calumet Township.
If the weather doesn’t cooperate, the work would be completed in early spring, he said.
Emerson said the Surveyor’s office, along with the Drainage Board, has been adhering to a maintenance schedule to keep the ditch clean. There were a few instances this summer where the county’s maintenance crew was able to clear debris with relative ease, but this work will be more encompassing, he said.
“We’ll be clearing out fallen trees and sediment, and other obstructions to make drainage easier,” Emerson said. “We encourage residents with any concerns to come out and let us know what we need to add.”
Emerson said the project should take no longer than 90 days from start to finish, depending on the contractor.
Emerson and his team met with residents at the Lincoln Center in Highland in February for the same type of work in Highland’s portion of the ditch. That work was completed over the summer.
