A new judge has been assigned to the case of an Oak Lawn woman accused of a fatal hit-and-run accident after a Tinley Park concert in July.
The attorney for Jacqueline Cummings, 21, requested a new judge on Friday, and Cook County Circuit Court Judge Kerry Kennedy was assigned on Monday, according to the state’s attorney’s office.
Oak Lawn attorney John Russell declined to say why the defense sought a new judge.

He said Cummings, who is charged with reckless homicide with a motor vehicle, is free on $150,000 bail and must submit to drug and alcohol tests as part of the terms of her release.
The defense contends that Cummings was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol when Maria Domantay was struck about 12:15 a.m. July 18 near Oak Park Avenue and Harlem Avenue after a Jason Aldean concert at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre.
Domantay, 54, of Arlington Heights, was later pronounced dead at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox. An autopsy revealed that she died from multiple injuries from being struck by a vehicle.
Cummings was driving her 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee and struck Domantay, sideswiped a police car and fled, according to prosecutors.
She’s also charged with failing to report an accident involving death, to reduce speed to avoid an accident, to yield to an emergency vehicle, improper lane use and use of a cellphone in an emergency zone.
