Elmwood Park police are inviting residents to sit down with them over a cup of coffee.
From 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Oct. 14, police officers from the Elmwood Park Police Department will be at Panera Bread, 7400 W. North Ave., for Elmwood Park Neighborhood Watch’s “Coffee with a Cop” event.
Elmwood Park Police Chief Frank Fagiano said the event is a way for the police to reach out and make inroads with village residents in a relaxed environment.
“We want to break down barriers between the police and the citizens we serve,” he said.
Fagiano says he’ll be at the event, but encourages visitors to connect with his patrol officers instead. He said residents can come in and talk to police officers about concerns or questions they may have. A police officer from River Forest, which borders Elmwood Park along North Avenue, will be in attendance as well.
“We selected Panera because it was on the south end [of town] and we’ll do another on the north end, but anybody can come,” Fagiano said. “The community is welcome.”
