School spirit, dancers and cheerleaders soared to new heights at Nazareth Academy’s homecoming pep rally Friday in La Grange Park.
Pass the Torch was the Olympic-themed setting for a week of activities leading up to the varsity football contest Friday evening against Benet Academy from Lisle. The game was scheduled as the third Friday night game this season and the school’s first homecoming game under new lights installed at the stadium.
In addition to pep rally performances by student groups and contests among classes, student videos were featured, and the homecoming court was announced.
Seniors Elaine Gralak of Oak Lawn and Sam McLachlan of Berwyn were crowned as queen and king. Other members of the court were seniors Katie Swade and Freddie Lockie, both from Western Springs; juniors Clare Svoboda of Clarendon Hills and Aidan Bresnahan of La Grange Park; sophomores Anastasia Kakol of Palos Park and Jake Santi of Western Springs; and freshmen Catherine O’Hea of La Grange Park and Michael Milano of Westchester.

After the early morning pep rally, students took to the streets of La Grange Park for the 41st annual fundraising walk to benefit the school. Students and staff cheered for their favorite players in a softball game between seniors and faculty members, following the walk.
The homecoming dance was scheduled for Saturday evening at the school.
