Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Welcome to the Bears Binge, where every week RedEye prepares you for the matchup facing the Monsters of the Midway. From reasons to dislike the opposing team to an offbeat look at the ’85 Bears anniversary, we’ll have fun with this and hope you do too.

Never mind the fact that this week could get ugly for the Bears.

Game time: Noon Sunday, CBS

Players and coaches talk all about how they respect their opponents. Really, that’s what they should do. But fans don’t have to. Here are three reasons Bears die-hards should laugh at the Raiders (and things related to them) this week.

Their Spanish is terrible

For nine days in 1960, after a naming contest held by the Oakland Tribune, the Raiders were called the Señors. Not the Señores, which would have been proper Spanish grammar, but Señors. That’s worse than calling your team the Leafs instead of the Leaves (looking at you, Toronto).

He’s all they’ve got?

J’Marcus Webb is on the Raiders roster. The offensive lineman did not perform all that well when he was with the Bears. If you’re into Schadenfreude, this is right up your alley.

Comedy gold

This being the year of the 50th Super Bowl, the NFL has had all its teams paint the “50” at midfield gold to celebrate. The Raiders, however, originally requested to be excluded, which would fit with the team’s longtime rogue personality. They ultimately changed their minds, which is unfortunate because it might have been fun to see the NFL and the Raiders get on each other’s nerves for a while.

THE ’85 BEARS ARE HOW OLD?

ICYMI, 2015 marks the 30th anniversary of the 1985 Bears, the last team to bring a Super Bowl title to Chicago. And as anyone who has experienced it knows, turning 30 can be a pain. Each week we’ll give you an idea of what Bears fans who remember the magic of 1985 must be going through.

When you turn 30 … it takes less to get you hungover and longer to recover.

Football equivalent: The more the Bears continue to struggle, the more likely fans are to turn off the game long before it ends. And who knows if they’ll even tune in the next week?
