Aurora police are looking for three men suspected of stealing cash from a 90-year-old man after scamming their way into his home.

Aurora Police Department spokesman Dan Ferrelli said the incident occurred around 3 p.m. on Sept. 19 in the 800 block of Laurel Drive where a resident was in his front yard talking to a neighbor.

According to Ferrelli, three men got out of a silver Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck and approached the 90-year-old man about having his driveway redone.

When the victim declined, the men asked if he had any electronics he would like to sell them instead.

Ferrelli said two men were led inside the home, while a third man stayed outside.

Once inside, one of the men asked to use the restroom, Ferrelli said. The resident obliged, and when the suspect exited the restroom he abruptly told the others they had to leave.

Having become suspicious of their swift departure, the resident began checking around his home. Ferrelli said an undisclosed amount of cash was found to be missing from one of the rooms.

According to the homeowner, all three suspects were described as Hispanic men. The two who entered the home were both between 30 and 40 years old. One was 5-foot-8, 145 pounds, wearing a gray sweatshirt and blue jeans. The second was 5-foot-6, 120 pounds, and was wearing a reflective orange traffic vest.

Ferrelli said the suspect who stayed outside the home was between 20 and 25 years old, 5-foot-6, 140 pounds, with a thin mustache. He was wearing a black sweatshirt and blue jeans.

The men were last seen driving southbound on Laurel Drive.

Ferrelli said it is unknown if this incident is related to similar burglaries targeting elderly residents which have occurred recently.
