
An Arlington Heights teen was one of the first to buy an iPhone 6S on Friday. In Australia.
Keaton Keller traveled to Sydney on Sept. 19, according to his Twitter account, to be among the first customers in the world to buy Apple’s latest smartphone, about 15 hours before the phones went on sale in Chicago.
Keller apparently waited in line for several days in a tent outside the Apple store in Sydney.
The 2015 graduate of Prospect High School runs the YouTube channel TechSmartt, where he quickly posted a video Friday of tests showing how the new iPhones hold up to being dropped.
Keller won the Celebrating High School Innovators Award from the University of Illinois this year. He told the Tribune in July that he plans to study business at the University of California-Santa Barbara.
Keller launched TechSmartt in 2010. It features educational videos that show viewers how to use technology, especially digital gadgets.
TechSmartt has about 482,000 YouTube subscribers and has received attention from Yahoo News and Huffington Post.
