Aurora police are warning drivers to keep their valuables hidden after five vehicles were burglarized within 30 minutes on Thursday at different day care centers.

Aurora Police Department spokesman Dan Ferrelli said the burglaries occurred between 5:20 and 5:50 p.m. at several day care centers. The vehicles were targeted as parents went inside to pick up their children.

The burglaries occurred at KinderCare, 700 block of Long Grove Lane; Creative World Day Care School, 700 block of Shoreline Drive; and Smart Beginnings, 4100 block of Healthway Drive.

According to Ferrelli, most of the vehicles were locked, but valuables were left in plain view. The burglar was able to smash the windows and take the valuables within seconds, Ferrelli said.

Cash, electronics, credit and gift cards, and other items, worth about $3,300, were taken.

The suspect was driving a gray or tan, 4-door Audi, with tinted windows. He was described as a black man between 25 and 32 years old, with a medium build, wearing a white shirt and gray jeans.
