Sia has shared the first taste of her upcoming album “This Is Acting” and it’s “Alive,” a writing collaboration with Australian pop star Adele and modern-day piano man Tobias Jesso Jr.
Apparently, Adele was going to use the song but didn’t (reason unknown) at the last minute, so Sia did. She explained to RTV Slovenija (in an interview translated via Billboard), “It’s about [Adele’s] life, so I now sing a song from [Adele’s] perspective.” The end result is a true-to-form Sia anthem that’s emotionally resonant and also going to dominate the radio for the rest of the year.
That’s not going to be the only song meant for another artist on the upcoming effort. In an interview earlier this year, Sia shed more light on the album, revealing, “I’m calling it ‘This Is Acting’ because they are songs I was writing for other people, so I didn’t go into it thinking, ‘This is something I would say.’” She added, “It’s more like play-acting. It’s fun.”
