Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Welcome to the Bears Binge, where every week RedEye prepares you for the matchup facing the Monsters of the Midway. From reasons to dislike the opposing team to an offbeat look at the ’85 Bears anniversary, we’ll have fun with this and hope you do too.

Never mind the fact that this week could get ugly for the Bears.

Game time: 3:25 p.m. Sunday, Fox

YOU MAD? YOU SHOULD BE

Players and coaches talk all about how they respect their opponents. Really, that’s what they should do. But fans don’t have to. Here are three reasons Bears die-hards should dislike the Seahawks (and things related to them) this week.

Russell Wilson

Losing is a team effort, sure. But when the Seahawks had a chance to steal a win at Green Bay last week, it was Wilson who threw an interception with Seattle down seven in the fourth quarter. That dashed Bears’ fans hopes of feeling a tiny bit better about their own fortunes Sunday night. Thanks for nothing, Russell.

That teacher who wouldn’t let a student wear Broncos gear

According to Q13 Fox in Seattle, a teacher in Tacoma, Wash., told a 5-year-old girl she could not wear her Denver Broncos dress to school on a day when other kids could wear gear representing their favorite teams. Why? Apparently because the teacher is an avid Seahawks fan. Fortunately, school district administrators reversed that call. Imagine how big a grudge that teacher would have held if Seattle had not beaten Denver in the Super Bowl two seasons ago. Sheesh.

Marshawn Lynch

Perhaps the silent treatment is “Beast Mode’s” best move regardless of the circumstances. According to TMZ Sports, the Seattle running back allegedly told a young fan in Wisconsin this weekend, “How would you like it if I slapped that [bleeping] phone out of your hand and that smile off your face.” How about just giving the kid some Skittles instead?

THE ’85 BEARS ARE HOW OLD?

ICYMI, 2015 marks the 30th anniversary of the 1985 Bears, the last team to bring a Super Bowl title to Chicago. And as anyone who has experienced it knows, turning 30 can be a pain. Each week we’ll give you an idea of what Bears fans who remember the magic of 1985 must be going through.

When you turn 30 … your metabolism slows to the point that you have to work out and stop eating like crap to stay in shape.

Football equivalent: Not that any of the Bears have been mailing it in, but any sort of edge—an extra 10 minutes in the weight room, an extra half-hour studying film, an extra hour of sleep on Saturday nights—could make a difference when a team has injuries and is short on talent.
