A man wanted in a fatal shooting in Chicago’s Morgan Park neighborhood this month was arrested early Monday in Iowa, officials said.

Darrick “Nelson” Wells, 36, was arrested by the U.S. marshals in Cedar Rapids and is expected to be returned to Illinois to face charges.

A northern Iowa task force for the Marshals Service announced the arrest. Wells was being held in the Linn County Correctional Center, where jail officials say he will be taken to Illinois to face charges. Court records do not indicate whether Wells has an attorney.

Authorities say Wells is a suspect in the Sept. 3 killing of Claudia Mister, 28.

Chicago police this month released an image of a man who fatally wounded Mister on the Far South Side.

Shortly before 3 a.m. on Sept. 3, Mister was standing with her friends outside of a nightclub in the 1600 block of West 115th Street when a man approached them and fired a handgun several times, police said Friday afternoon.

Mister, of the 10600 block of South Church Street, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and pronounced dead at 5:35 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Mister was among 12 people killed within 36 hours in Chicago.

The gunman was described as a black man with a medium complexion, about 6 feet tall and 200 pounds. Police said he was last seen wearing a white shirt and gray jeans. He has several tattoos on the back of the neck, both forearms and hands, police said.
