Three robbers armed with a gun held a Lake County family captive for a few moments Thursday night while robbing them of cash and about $10,000 in jewelry, officials said Friday.
According to a report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, three males were driving through the 1100 block of Inverrary Lane in an unincorporated area near Deerfield when they spotted a young boy playing outside his house with a friend.
“Two of the three male individuals forced the two juveniles inside the victim’s residence at gunpoint,” the report reads.
Inside, the robbers forced the boys and the man who lives there onto the ground, the report said.
“They then forced the adult victim to surrender $500 and approximately $10,000 worth of jewelry, while they held the victims at gunpoint,” the report reads.
In an email, Sgt. Christopher Covelli of the Lake County sheriff’s office said the incident lasted about five minutes.
One of the two men who came inside carried a black semi-automatic pistol, Covelli said, and the third man did not come into the house.
No shots were fired, no one resisted the robbery, the intruders did not display any other weapons, and no one was hurt, according to Covelli.
The suspects fled in the same car, according to the report.
The sheriff’s office released a photograph of two of the three suspects, and asked that anyone who can identify them call detectives at 847-377-4250 or Lake County Crime Stoppers at 847-662-2222.
