Police on Monday identified the man who died in a weekend shooting in North Chicago as Waukegan 23-year-old Anthony Sosa, according to a police statement.
Sosa died at a local hospital after he was shot on the 1400 block of Hervey Avenue in North Chicago at about 4:15 p.m. Saturday, police said.
A second man, Zion 27-year-old Tymell R. Harrell, was also wounded, but his injuries were not life-threatening, according to police.
The shooting occurred in the Hervey Village apartment complex, North Chicago police Sgt. Larry Thomas said.
North Chicago police continue to investigate and urge anyone with information related to the shooting to call the police department’s tip line at 847-596-8745. Police did not provide any additional information related to potential suspects or the circumstances that led to the shooting.
Daniel Limon, however, said he heard multiple gunshots outside of his apartment complex on Saturday. The complex is between 14th and 15th streets.
Before the shooting took place, shortly after 4 p.m., he said there was a crowd of men on the street “shooting what looked like a rap video.”
After the exchange of shots between one man and the crowd of men, Limon said he saw a man who was shot in the head lying on the street.
Limon said there are cameras outside of the building where he lives and that police took the video recordings from those cameras.
