The group known as Ella’s Friends at the Ella Johnson Memorial Public Library, 109 South State Street in Hampshire, is holding its annual chrysanthemum sale.
According to Ella’s Friends, mums in the colors of purple, bronze, yellow and lavender from CBMT Greenhouse in Hampshire are being sold. Mums bloom in late September through October.
“We have sold 60 mums so far,” said Ronald Anderson, president of Ella’s Friends. “The mums sell for $7.25 per plant or four plants for $26. Order forms are available at the library. The deadline for ordering mums has been extended to Thursday, Sept. 10. People can pick up their mums in the parking lot at the corner of Rinn Avenue and Park Street in Hampshire from 9:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12.”
Anderson said that funds raised by the plant sale will go toward the library’s summer reading program and the purchase of a new scanner for the library.
