Drivers in five divisions will win titles, based on points accumulated during the spring and summer at the one-third mile clay oval that’s located on the Kenosha County Fairgrounds.
Non-winged sprints, modifieds, mini-sprints, street stocks and Bandit 4-cylinder stock cars will be in action.
Also appearing will be UTV off-roaders. Grandstands will open at 5 p.m., with racing at 6:45. Grandstand admission is $12 for fans ages 12 and over, and $5 for children ages 7-11. Children 6-and-under can attend for free.
In addition to the on-track action, Care4Kids, an organization to assist youths in Lake County and Kenosha County who are in need of school supplies will be doing a fundraiser. Race fans who want to donate supplies or slightly used or new coats or jackets can bring them to the track on Saturday.
Heading into Championship Night, Antioch’s Scott Kuxhouse has all but wrapped up the modified division title. When he won last week’s feature, it was his ninth win in 11 races.
The 2015 driving title will be Kuxhouse’s seventh at Wilmot.
Last Saturday, for the second week in a row, Kuxhouse was chased across the finish line by his son, Cameron Kuxhouse, who currently 13th in the point standings.
The winner said he did not know until he was in victory lane that his son finished second in the feature that included a green-white-checkered restart.
“Wow, he finished second again, that’s great,” Scott Kuxhouse said.
The other feature winners last Saturday were Kris Spitz of Salem, Wis., in the winged sprint class; Ion Stear of Harvard in the mini-sprint division; Todd Lehr of Genoa City, Wis., in the non-winged sprint class; and Erik
Grosch of Arlington Heights in the Bandit 4-cylinder division.
Vingate stocks also raced last week at Ben Hamburg of Dixon won the 15-lap main event.
The winged sprints won’t race on Saturday. Jeremy Schultz of Beaver Dam, Wis., won the driving title last weekend in that class. Schultz finished ninth in the final race, but was well ahead on points to be crowned champ.
In the street stock division, Pat Rossman of Wadsworth is in the points lead going into Saturday’s finale.
