The Cook County medical examiner’s office has ruled the death of a 1-month-old boy from Calumet Park as a homicide.
Findings of an autopsy performed Thursday show Robert Jamal James Phipps died of multiple injuries, according to the medical examiner’s office.
Phipps was brought from Metro South Medical Center to the medical examiner’s office at about 11:12 p.m. Wednesday.
A message seeking comment from the Calumet Park Police Department was not immediately returned Thursday.
DCFS is investigating, said department spokesman Andrew Flach.
A second child from the same parents was placed with other relatives earlier this year following an allegation of inadequate supervision, Flach said.
The couple has no other children, he said.
