Perfect on a lazy weekend morning, the Sunday brunch at Bartlett’s Gourmet Grill & Tavern on Highway 12 in Beverly Shores starts with the Buck’n Good Bloody Mary, made with a perfectly balanced house mix with a touch of horseradish, packed full of treats along with their house venison stick,

Continue a la carte, with selections like a breakfast Reuben, an open-faced sandwich consisting of layers of marble rye, Bartlett’s own kraut with apples and caramelized onions, thick slice warm corned beef, finished with two eggs over easy with a drizzle of Hollandaise, served with freshly grated hash browns with a touch of onion and fresh dill.

The chorizo stuffed waffle is topped with Chihuahua cheese and pica de gallo served with breakfast red potatoes and sweet peppers. Also enjoy chicken and biscuits, breakfast poutine and multigrain Fiji apple pancakes, among plenty of other selections.

Bartlett’s Gourmet Grill & Tavern began Dec. 5, in 2008, and since then they have brought locals and visitors what owner Gary Sander calls, “simple food done well.” Such simple food includes the tuna nicoise salad, which features rare, seared, fresh ahi sushi-grade tuna with a Provence crust. The flavors are unmistakable, yet subtle enough that the flavor of the tuna comes through, the perfect accent, light and tasty.

The Duck Confit & Pork Belly Filled Wontons feature shredded duck, pork belly, herbs and spices in a light wonton wrapper, served crispy with an Asian hoisin, ginger and soy reduction with a carrot-diakon radish slaw.

Other favorites in the menu include the all-day-long lamb shank with gnocchi and root vegetables and sauteed kale, as well as the chicken schnitzel made with Parmesan and bread crumbs tossed with fresh boneless chicken breasts and sauteed and finished with lemon and capers, served with smashed potatoes and fresh vegetables.

Bartlett’s features an outdoor deck with a children’s playhouse so kids can run around while parents are enjoying their dinner and a glass of wine. A screened-in porch is great for private parties, and there are events throughout the year such as comedy night, beer fest, music fest, and oyster fest, as well as plenty of weeknight specials.

Bartlett’s Gourmet Grill & Tavern is at 131 E. Dunes Highway 12, Beverly Shores. Contact 219-879-3081 or www.eatatbartletts.com.
