River Grove’s Binny’s Beverage Depot is in the midst of a makeover.
The remodel of the local liquor store chain’s outpost, located at 3121 Thatcher Ave. in the Thatcher Woods Shopping Center, is expected to be completed by the end of the month, according to Jack Burton, assistant store manager.
The store is still open to customers, but work is still being done on a portion of it.
“At the end of the month we will be fully open again,” he said. “October is a grand re-opening of sorts.”
He said they will make sure the community will know when that day happens. Meanwhile the River Grove store has condensed the amount of beer, liquor and wine on its shelves and keep extra in their storage area.
The remodeling of the store will happen within the store’s existing footprint, adding space to the front by shrinking and reorganizing the back of the store.
“We’ll have an expanded cooler and logistically we have improved dramatically,” he said. “We have a public bathroom on the first floor, where in the past we had to lead customers through the back storage area of the store.”

Bruton said with the added room, they’ll be able to do more in-store promotions.
“We’re hoping to bring in more products and have more tastings,” he said.
