Cook County Circuit Court Judge Darron Bowden on Thursday denied bail for Owen T. Stephney, 42, who is charged with first-degree murder, according to the state’s attorney’s office.
Stephney was the boyfriend of the victim, 49-year-old Rochelle Rebb, and has been in custody since Tuesday, the day of the stabbing, Lansing police said.
They reported that officers responded about 7:35 a.m. Tuesday to a report of a domestic disturbance in the 3700 block of 173rd Court and found Rebb unresponsive and with several stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
Lansing police learned of Stephney and coordinated with Hazel Crest police, who sent officers to Stephney’s home and arrested him, Lansing police reported.
