Keith Richards, the suddenly very negative Rolling Stones guitarist who really doesn’t like the Beatles’ ‘Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band,’ has another outlandish music opinion. This time, however, it might be even more controversial (and predictable) than his surprising Fab Four-hate.

Speaking to the New York Daily News in support of his upcoming solo album “Crosseyed Heart,” out Sept. 18, the 71-year-old classic rock icon revealed his thoughts on a particularly popular musical genre: “Rap — so many words, so little said,” noted Richards, the temperature of his take rising from “hot” to “scorching” by the second.

He continued, “What rap did that was impressive was to show there are so many tone-deaf people out there. All they need is a drum beat and somebody yelling over it and they’re happy. There’s an enormous market for people who can’t tell one note from another.” I should probably add that Richards said this quote in the Year of Our Lord Yeezus 2015 and not in the 1980s.

Even though his opinions are clearly a little simplistic, they’re not exactly surprising or really even that notable. For instance, Richards is just the latest veteran rock star to say disparaging things about rap. We’ve heard similar comments from Morrissey, David Crosby, Gene Simmons, Oasis and many, many more throughout the years.

But that said, Richards decided to take his wrath out on other genres as well. “It sounds like a dull thud to me,” said Richards of rock music. “For most bands, getting the syncopation is beyond them. It’s endless thudding away, with no bounce, no lift, no syncopation.” He also doesn’t like metal: “Millions are in love with Metallica and Black Sabbath. I just thought they were great jokes.”

Let’s take stock of the things Keith Richards likes: bandanas, the blues, tobacco and…?
