Key evidence in the Jimmy ‘Superfly’ Snuka case, according to the Lehigh County Grand Jury presentment:
Medical and autopsy evidence:
Nancy Argentino was rushed to Allentown Sacred Heart Hospital just before midnight on May 10, 1983. Her pupils were fixed and dilated—indicating a head injury, medical reports show. An autopsy revealed a skull fracture and 39 contusions and abrasions on her arms, back, buttocks, legs and feet. A forensic pathologist concluded that the injuries suggested “mate” abuse.
Numerous statements Snuka made about how Nancy Argentino got hurt:
Police say Snuka gave seven different versions of how Argentino was injured. He spoke to police officers, a hospital chaplain, a paramedic, a nurse and others, police say, changing his story each time.
Evidence of Snuka’s “assaultive behavior” upon Argentino and Snuka’s former wife:
The grand jury members heard evidence of an incident in Syracuse, New York, five months before Nancy Argentino’s death in which Snuka was accused of dragging her by her hair through a hotel, while she was naked and screaming for help. Deputies had to force their way into the motel room with police dogs to stop the assault, court records say. The panel also heard evidence that Snuka beat his former wife in 1983, putting her in the hospital.
