Mid-American Conference coaches have picked Northern Illinois to repeat as West Division champions and Bowling Green to win the East in a poll released Monday by the league.

The defending MAC champion Huskies received seven first-place votes and 70 points in the survey conducted among the league’s 13 head coaches. Toledo was second with 67 points and five first-place votes. Western Michigan was picked third with one vote for first and 55 points.

In the East, Bowling Green earned 11 first-place nods and 89 points while Ohio was second with 64 points. UMass had two firsts but landed fourth.

A media poll in August had Toledo and Bowling Green as favorites in their respective divisions.

Northern Illinois opens the season at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at home against UNLV.
