Bow down, Bucktown. Food Network star Jeff “Sandwich King” Mauro is setting his sights on Chicago. Later this year, he’ll open Pork & Mindy’s in the former Red Hen Bread space at 1623 N. Milwaukee Ave. The menu will include a chicken and waffle sandwich, pulled chicken and pork, an extra-crispy BLT, a pork bao and more. Expect to see Mauro’s signature sauces, which are currently available at Mariano’s, at the restaurant too.
According to a post on the company’s site, Mauro and his team selected Bucktown because of “the local community’s support of the brand’s three core pillars–food, music and art.”
“Since my Food Network debut nearly five years ago, I’ve had numerous offers to get involved in the restaurant business, but this was the only opportunity that I truly believed in because it reflects the things I care about–great food, awesome music and local art,” Mauro said.
