Team outlook
This is the most anticipated Hornets season in recent memory now that King, Curry and Hall are entering their third varsity seasons. Hinsdale South has 11 returning starters, led by the Michigan State-bound King, the state’s top-rated recruit. The Hornets seek their first conference title since 2005. Backup QB McCormack (6-foot-5, 195-pounder) takes over for graduate Rob Regan, who led the team in rushing and TDs last season. Expect much more passing. Center Chris Oehmen is the only returning starter on the offensive line. Linebackers Dacari Williams, Deontae Curry and Jon Gorney are back and former soccer player Marco Ristic will be the place kicker after missing last season following a leg injury in the season opener.

In Hinsdale South’s only trip to the state championship game, Mount Carmel won the Class 5A final 15-10 in 1980. Jim Kasper scored the Hornets’ only offensive points on a two-yard TD run and a 2-point conversion catch in the fourth quarter. The Hornets’ other points came on a safety.
Getting to know …
Jevais Harris
Harris, Ravon Johnson and Connor McCormack give first-year starting quarterback Sean McCormack a trio of capable target. Reserve receiver Dylan Boye is ruled out for football after tearing an ACL during the track season. The 6-foot-2, 175-pound Harris led the team in receptions last season, averaging 11.3 yards per catch.
