Wilmette police said a Chicago man has been arrested in connection with offering sex for money and then trying to run when confronted by police.
Matthew King, 18, of the 9100 block of South Paxton Avenue, was charged with attempted prostitution and resisting arrest, according to a Wilmette police report. The incident took place shortly past midnight on Aug. 8, at the Marriott Residence Inn at 3205 Old Glenview Road, police said.
An officer responded to an online ad offering sex for money on the North Shore, police said. When the officer arrived at the arranged meeting time and place, he found King there, police said.
Police said King tried to run away but was caught.
King could not be reached for comment.
King is scheduled to appear Sept. 9 in Cook County court in Skokie.
