By now you probably know the Orioles absolutely pasted the Oakland A’s on Sunday at Camden Yards, scoring 18 runs on a franchise-record-tying 26 hits.
It was pretty crazy to watch.
Here are some facts from that game to chew on this morning.
** The Orioles tied their all-time single-game total with 26 hits – 15 singles, seven doubles and four home runs.
** The Orioles’ 18 runs tied for their second-most this year; they actually scored 19 on June 16 against the Philadelphia Phillies and 18 on April 26 versus the Boston Red Sox. All three have been at Camden Yards.
** The 18 runs tie the Orioles’ most against the A’s; they also scored 18 on Aug. 15, 1996.
** Adam Jones homered twice in his second multi-homer game of the season. He has five home runs in his past six games and 22 this season. It was the Orioles’ 11th multi-homer performance of the season.
** Gerardo Parra’s five-hit performance tied a career high. He has nine hits in the first three games of the four-game series against the A’s after having a total of nine in his first 11 games as an Oriole.
** Caleb Joseph drove in four runs for the first time in his major league career and the Orioles improved to 18-2 in games in which he has driven in more than one run. He also hit his 11th home run of the season.
** Steve Clevenger set a major-league career high with four hits. He has nine hits in 20 at-bats (.450) in three short stints with the major league club this season.
** Newly recalled outfielder Henry Urrutia drove in three runs and couldn’t help but set a major-league career high. He had just two career RBIs in 25 previous games.
** Eight of the nine positions in the Orioles batting order produced at least two hits and scored at least one run. Six players – Parra, Clevenger, Jones, Joseph, Manny Machado and Jonathan Schoop – had at least three hits. Shortstop J.J. Hardy went hitless in four at-bats.
** Five players – Machado, Parra, Jones, Urrutia and Joseph – had at least three RBIs.
** The top three batters in the Orioles lineup – Machado, Parra and Jones – combined to go 11 for 15 with three doubles, three home runs, nine RBIs and eight runs scored.
** Chris Davis went 2-for-5 and raised his season average to .261. He is batting .336 with 15 home runs and 37 RBIs since the All-Star break. Davis also had one RBI on Sunday to raise his major league-leading total to 89.
** The Orioles had a season-high 10 hits and nine runs in the fifth inning. It was the first time the Orioles had 10 or more hits in an inning since April 11, 2002 against Tampa Bay, according to STATS, Inc.

** Three Orioles – Parra, Jones and Davis – had two hits in the fifth inning. Parra was the first to do that since Nelson Cruz had two hits in the fourth inning of a game against the Yankees last Sept. 24. The last time multiple Orioles players had two hits in the same inning was May 9, 2009, when Gregg Zaun and Luke Scott had two each against the Yankees.
** The single-game hit record the Orioles tied on Sunday was set on Aug. 28, 1980 against the California Angels at Memorial Stadium.
** In that 1980 performance, Eddie Murray, Gary Roenicke and Rich Dauer each had four hits. All three are in the Orioles’ Hall of Fame. Murray is in the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
