The clouds parted ways and opened up to bright sunshine just as participants began to march in the 31st annual Montgomery Festival Parade Sunday.

As in years past, the crowds descended on the village along the Fox River to see the annual parade, car show, music groups and all those who were part of Montgomery Festival last weekend.

“The beer tent was a new event, it seems like it was well received this year. People seemed to enjoy it. The new Rotary Club had a 50/50 raffle, people seem to enjoy that,” said Jeff Zoephel, village administrator.

The festival opened Friday night.

“This is our fourth year,” said Elburn resident Bill Mitchinson as he watched his sons in the parade with the Kaneland Marching Band.

“There was a huge crowd compared to last year,” said Jenna Constable, who sang during the festival.

During the three days hundreds of festival patrons ate at the food booths, looked for crafts, watched children on carnival rides and listened to music as well as watched dancers and others in the Montgomery’s Got Talent event.

The car show continued to be a large event Sunday afternoon as the hundreds who came to look at the vehicles lined the streets looking for places to park. The village also had shuttle buses from a school and shopping area in order to bus patrons into the fest grounds.

Other events included a fishing derby, robotic show, stunt bike demonstrations, a petting zoo and more.
