Even though the start of school is looming, there is still plenty of fun to be had as another fest joins the seemingly endless list of ways to party in Tinley Park.
The Tinley Park-based 350 Brewing Co. is celebrating it first anniversary, or “one year of insanity” as owners Erik Pizer and Todd Randall put it, with a fest Aug. 22 at the Tinley Park Convention Center, 18451 Convention Center Drive. The doors open at 3:50 p.m. (get it!) and tapping craft and specialty beers goes on until 9 p.m.
The company has put together quite an evening with 20 different breweries serving up their specialties. More than 75 beers will be available, including many small limited batch beers that you’ll never find again.
The offerings came about from “Collab Roulette,” which Pizer explained.
“We paired up the breweries by a pick out of a hat, then each team rolled to get a style of beer, three types of hops and two wildcard ingredients. The results are all over the place and definitely interesting,” he said.
350 Brewing was paired up with Slapshot Brewing Company and created a double IPA with Falconers Flight, Green Bullet and Warrior hops with coriander and vanilla bean. There are 10 of these beer adventures to try.
” Brewers really enjoy collaborating,” said Pizer ” It’s a blast working together and coming up with a new beer.”
He attributes much of 350’s success to keeping it fresh and rotating new beers. “It makes it a place that people want to come back to,” he said.
The fest also will feature live music performances by the Smoking Popes, Nick Diener of The Swellers, who will play an acoustic set, and the band Much The Same will do their first show in over four years.
” We are looking forward to a great time.” said Pizer ” The past year has been crazy and it’s time to celebrate.”
Tickets are available at the 350 Taproom at 7144 W. 183rd St. or by visiting www.350brewing.com.
