Glenview Titan Aquatic Club swimmer Sam Iida qualified for the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials in the 400-meter individual medley by touching the wall in 4 minutes, 26.31 seconds at the USA Futures Championships in West Lafayette, Ind.
Iida earned the qualifying mark in the preliminaries on Friday, July 31.
The Olympic Trials time standard is 4:27.49.
As a sophomore at Glenbrook South, Iida won the 500-yard freestyle (4:31.13) at the 2015 boys swimming and diving state meet and finished second in the 200-yard IM (1:50.91). He also took third in the 4×100-yard freestyle relay with the Titans.
