A Lake Zurich man pleaded not guilty Thursday to 10 charges related to child pornography.

Jonathon Crouter, 23, faces five counts each of reproduction of child pornography and possession of child pornography. If convicted, he would face a sentencing range of six to 30 years in prison for the former charge and three to seven years upon conviction for the latter, according to Assistant State’s Attorney George Pappas.

His next scheduled court appearance is Oct. 22 with trial set for Nov. 16.

According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, a child pornography investigation conducted by the sheriff’s Cybercrimes Unit and the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Cybercrimes Unit led to a search of Crouter’s residence July 9.

Evidence seized from the residence included multiple electronic devices capable of storing media, authorities said. A forensic examination of those devices revealed hundreds of videos identified as child pornography involving children under the age of 13, police said. It was also determined during the investigation that Crouter reproduced several videos containing child pornography, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.

Crouter was arrested the same day the search warrant was executed.

Following a bond hearing at which Crouter’s bail was set at $150,000, he was released from custody of the Lake County Jail after posting 10 percent of that amount.
