Two stages of music ranging from polka and Polish disco to funk, blues and classic rock, carnival rides, Polish dancers and, of course, dumplings filled with goodness of your choice – typically sweet cheese, sauerkraut, meat or potato — will be featured Aug. 13 to 16 at Taste of Pierogi in Bridgeview.

A pierogi-eating contest also will be part of the inaugural event to be held in the parking lot of Toyota Park soccer stadium.

“It’s an event for the whole family with a huge carnival, food vendors from around Chicagoland with lots of pierogi and other Polish dishes and a huge beer tent stocked with domestic and imported beer,” said Sebastian Legas, marketing director of Mega Events Inc. “People just love pierogi no matter what background they’re from.”

Vendors include Dumpling House, Endi’s Deli, NaNa’s Pierogi, Basia’s Pierogi, Zacarelli’s Pizza, Home Bakery and Mr. Elote.

Polish artists appearing include Fox, an award-winning Chicago band formed by Agnieszka and Daniel Wasinskipop, on Aug. 14; disco-pop singer Markus P, a native of Szczecin, Poland, with two sets on both Aug. 14 and 16; rock singer Maggie D. (Magda Doroszko) and Genie O & the Windy City Brass on Aug. 15 and Tony Blazonczyk’s New Phaze and Tornado on Aug. 16.

The music lineup also includes Lemont-based classic rockers Krazy Uncles and funk-jam band Walsher Clemons from the southwest suburbs on Thursday; Chicago pop-rock quartet The Fall Four and Blues Hall of Fame member Michael Charles of Chicago on Aug. 14; Blue Island’s Reverend T & the Soul Shakers on Aug. 15 and Chicago’s Doug Lee & the Blues Family on Aug. 16.
