Keith Stenlund, chief financial officer (CFO) for Chicago agency AbelsonTaylor, has been selected as one of 100 most inspiring leaders of 2015 by PharmaVOICE, one of the leading industry publications in the life sciences industry.

Each year the publication PharmaVOICE selects from thousands of nominees and chooses to recognize those individuals who provide inspiration to their peers, colleagues and companies through their innovative approaches to addressing myriad challenges. The Top 100 issue draws attention from more than 100,000 readers through the print and digital editions. It has become the must-read issue of the year and a hallmark for the industry.

Stenlund joined AbelsonTaylor at a time when the agency was experiencing significant growth. By renegotiating contracts and implementing strategic initiatives, he helped the agency gear up to accommodate its explosive growth without losing sight of what’s important for employees. Both internally and externally, Stenlund has built a reputation as an unconventional CFO with talent to engage individuals at every level-motivating, encouraging, and leading by example.

“CFOs often don’t get a lot of attention in our industry,” said president and CEO Dale Taylor. “They tend to be behind the scenes. But the operation of any successful agency today also requires the unique talents and negotiating skills of a CFO. Keith understands our business and the type of decisions that we have to make for our clients. He’s been a critical part of our growth and deserving of recognition.”

Today, AbelsonTaylor is one of the largest independent agencies in Chicago with 400 employees and occupies several floors at the old Arthur Andersen offices.

Prior to AbelsonTaylor, Stenlund was a senior vice president of finance at Upshot, an agency that which was acquired by a global company. He also played a primary role in evaluating and completing more than 15 acquisitions for HALO Company as its vice president of acquisitions. Stenlund also worked for Arthur Anderson for five years after receiving his accounting degree at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
