Sara Paretsky sends V.I. Warshawski back to her South Side roots in her latest murder mystery, “Brush Back.” The detective’s past comes calling when a boyfriend from high school shows up at her office asking her to look into an old murder conviction – the conviction of his mother for killing his sister in a state of rage. His mother served her time but the boyfriend is convinced she didn’t commit the killing. Reluctantly, Warshawski returns to her old haunts and is slowly drawn into the case, which takes her all over the city tracking down clues. Here’s a map to where the story takes her.
