Frankfort Trustee Todd Morgan resigned his seat Monday after 14 years, but he wouldn’t rule out a return to politics in two years to run for mayor.

“As this point I’ve done all I can as a trustee,” Morgan said after the Village Board meeting. “I wouldn’t take any option off the table.”

Morgan has two years left on his four-year term. The Village Board will appoint someone to fill out the term until the April 2017 village election.

Morgan is a vice president of investments at LaSalle St. Securities, and his wife, Cindy, co-owns BoKAY & Company, a Frankfort flower shop.

He said the time he gains from leaving the board will come in handy as his 19-year-old daughter, the youngest of his three children, transfers to the University of Colorado.

And he said he may finish a long-planned book on tailoring personal spending to retirement goals rather than trusting Wall Street investment returns.

Mayor Jim Holland, who was re-elected to a third term without opposition in 2013, credited Morgan with insisting on high standards for Frankfort, whether it be for new home construction, commercial development or village services.

“You’ve always stood for quality, and it’s very much appreciated,” Holland told him. “I say thank you.”

Morgan’s colleagues offered similar sentiment.

“We hear every week how beautiful our downtown is, and it’s because of your commitment,” Trustee Mike Stevens said.

Morgan in turn praised the “talented and transparent” Village Board and village staff.

Also Monday, trustees approved more than $100,000 in contracts, including $50,271 to repair pipes and chemically remove mineral deposits at one of the water utility’s wells.

The spending also covers $25,161 more for the new $6 million Village Hall that opened this month. The money will pay for video and data cabling inside the building, sidewalks, landscaping dirt and moving a streetlight.
