A July 13 car crash involving two vehicles on North Avenue in Elmwood Park resulted in the death of a 95-year-old Oak Park woman.
Francis Hinrichs died of injuries from the crash at 75th Court and North Avenue, which involved a Gottlieb Hospital shuttle bus on which she was a passenger and a 2004 Lincoln Town Car.
Elmwood Park Police Chief Frank Fagiano said at around 10:39 a.m. July 13 the Lincoln was facing south on 75th Court at North Avenue when the drive tried to make a left turn eastbound onto North Avenue. The shuttle bus, which was traveling westbound on North Avenue, crashed into the car.
“The driver [of the bus] said he was partially obstructed by parked cars on the street,” he said.
Fagiano said all three passengers on the bus and the driver were taken to Gottlieb Hospital.
“[Hinrichs] was alive at the time of the traffic crash, but later died at Gottlieb Hospital,” he said. “We were notified late in the afternoon.”
He said traffic along a portion of North Avenue was rerouted because of the accident.
Paramedics from River Forest and River Grove assisted Elmwood Park at the scene. No tickets were issued, Fagiano said.
