Two people were able to get through a basement window and escape a fire at a home in Aurora Wednesday evening.
Aurora Fire Department Lt. Craig Mateski said firefighters were called to a burning home in the 1400 block of Reckinger Road around 7:30 p.m.
Crews arrived to find the back of the single-family home on fire, with fire quickly moving into the home, he said.
Mateski said someone passing by the home noticed the fire and contacted police.
Two people inside the home were able to safely escape from the fire by exiting through a basement window.
Six fire companies fought the fire, which took one hour to get under control.
Mateski said no one, including the firefighters battling the blaze, was injured.
The cause of the fire, which caused $50,000 in damage, is under investigation by the Aurora Fire Department Investigation Team.
