Two men found sitting inside a parked vehicle for more than five hours were found in possession of 128 hypodermic needles, heroin and ice cream, Aurora police said.

According to Aurora police, Ryan Choinski, 22 and Tyler Monteith, 21, both of Minnesota, were spotted parked in a lot near Route 59 and Ogden Avenue around 2:24 p.m. Friday. Officers were called to the scene after someone reported a suspicious vehicle with two men inside had been parked next to a trash bin for five hours.

Officers arrived to check on the men and found Choinski reclined in the driver’s seat of the vehicle and Monteith in the passenger seat eating ice cream. In the car’s back seat, police saw several duffel bags and a black briefcase.

Police said the men relayed that they were in Aurora to solicit Direct TV and were waiting on co-workers to arrive in town. According to police reports, the men were compliant and cordial with officers until police inquired about the black briefcase.

After the briefcase was mentioned, the men refused to let police search the vehicle, according to reports. Choinski and Monteith were free to leave the scene, but it wasn’t long before they were talking to police again. Aware that Choinski’s driver’s license was suspended, officers pulled him over not too far from the parking lot.

Police said when they approached the car they saw an orange syringe cap and a bent syringe on the floor. After Choinski was taken into custody on an alleged traffic violation the car was impounded and searched for inventory.

Inside, police said they found 128 syringes scattered throughout the vehicle, including under the seats, in the center console and the in doors. Several spoons caked with cotton balls and other suspected drug paraphernalia items were also found inside the car, police said.

Inside an empty cigarette package police also found seven small bags of material they suspect is heroin and six empty bags with residue suspected to be heroin, according to reports.

Both Choinski and Monteith were charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, possession of a hypodermic needle and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Choinski was also charged with driving on a suspended license and no proof of insurance, police said.
