LAKE OKEECHOBEE: Anglers were catching bass 3-5 pounds using swimbaits, Rat-L-Traps and plastic worms and flipping creature baits.
EVERGLADES/FRESHWATER: Capt. Alan Zaremba said Everglades water levels were starting to rise, but fishing for largemouth bass was still good using jerkbaits. Bass at Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge were biting swim jigs, swimbaits and topwater plugs.
SOUTH FLORIDA INSHORE: Arnie Sedel, Allen Furia and Richard Bell released 54 snook up to 30 pounds Wednesday afternoon in four hours of fishing in Lake Worth Inlet with Capt. Steve Gordon. Tarpon fishing has been very good in Florida Bay and Everglades National Park using live bait, plugs and flies. Snook and redfish also were biting.
SOUTH FLORIDA OFFSHORE: Capt. Chris Lemieux of Le-Mieux Charters in Boynton Beach said fishing was still spotty. Wednesday his charter had 15 dolphin 6-18 pounds and threw back about 20 others fishing in 500-800 feet. Thursday Lemieux fished the reef and had lots of bonitos and a few snappers. Capt. Skip Dana of the Helen S and Fish City Pride drift boats at Hillsboro Inlet Marina reported good catches of vermilion snappers and some nice dolphin farther offshore.
THE KEYS: Lots of yellowtail snappers have been caught, along with muttons and mangroves. Lots of dolphin 6-12 pounds were biting offshore, along with tripletail and swordfish.
