Hammond Police Public Information Officer Lt. Rich Hoyda said in a press release the department received a call about 10:15 p.m. Saturday from the mother of a 33-year-old St. Paul man who was visiting the city with Morrison.
The man’s mother said he told her the two were in town for a graduation party and were staying at the Super 8 Motel, 4111 Calumet Ave.
The woman said her son also asked her to buy him a bus ticket so he could return to Minnesota, Hoyda said.
Hammond Police went to the hotel and found Morrison, who was pronounced dead at 12:10 a.m. June 7, according to the Lake County Coroner’s office.
The man was arrested by police in St. Paul and is being held pending charges, Hoyda said. Both Hoyda and a spokeswoman for the Lake County Prosecutor’s office confirmed charges have yet to be filed.
