The burglary occurred around 4 p.m. Wednesday when a worker at eDrop-Off, 2117 N. Halsted St., let in a man dressed as a woman, police said. He was followed by two other men, one of whom was also dressed as a woman.
Surveillance video from the store shows the three burglars grabbing several purses and fleeing, police said.
Corri McFadden, the store’s owner, told WGN-TV the thieves stole four handbags worth several thousand dollars.
“It’s just not OK,” McFadden said. “It’s like you came into my house and you stole from me.”
McFadden said she ran after the men and saw them flee in a white SUV.
“We need help. It’s not a joke,” McFadden said. “We desperately need police presence.”
Police said no one was in custody.
