Name: LifeProof nuud case for iPhone 5s
What it is: A “barely there” case for iPhone 5s that protects your iPhone from dust, drops, shocks, snow and water — up to 6.6 feet for an hour. This case allows you to take your phone anywhere from the slopes to a steam room or a swimming pool. And LifeProof provides this protection while leaving your Retina touch screen naked and the iPhone 5s Touch ID operational. The nuud case features LifeProof’s CrystalClear optical glass over the iSight camera and builds in sound enhancement to help users groove to their own beat. The slender case is available in black or white. There also are nuud cases for iPhone 6 ($89.99) and 6 Plus ($99.99).
The good: If you enjoy shocking friends by casually tossing your iPhone in the snow or on cement, you can shock them but not the phone. Of course, not all drops are intentional. Because I am a klutz, this case is a lifesaver. The nuud has allowed my iPhone 5s to go swimming, skiing, hiking and showering with me. I even took it in the steam bath at my gym to see if steam bothered it. It was impervious. My screen fogged up a bit, but I could listen to music until another bather appeared.
The bad: You need to use the supplied adapter for headphones, but I think that extra protection around the headset jack makes it waterproof.
Cost: $89.99
